We Enjoy Helping Seniors & Families Plan for Their Future

In your golden years, time should slow down and memories grow richer, like soft evening light.

But it’s hard managing your medical, legal, and financial affairs during this time. Wading through the fine print and avoiding costly missteps takes time and expertise. At Western Kentucky Elder Law, we shoulder this burden for you. We bring you the kind of legal expertise you find in big cities and the kind of care you’d expect from family. We dot your I’s and cross your T’s, medically and financially, to put your mind at ease and protect your loved ones.

Your Legal Family

At Western Kentucky Elder Law, we take pride in being your second family. We’re great at what we do, but we also make the process enjoyable. Law and laughter go together; we like to say. So while we prepare documents to care for your needs, we’ll have you smiling at the stories we tell along the way. That’s our way of practicing Elder law.

Darron L. Brawner

Darron is our Founder and Senior Attorney. He has practiced Elder Law for over 15 years throughout Western Kentucky. Darron founded our firm because he saw the need for Elder Law in both his parents’ and grandparents’ lives. Long-term care placement, applying for Medicaid, applying for Veteran’s Aid and Attendance, and Estate Planning: these were needs for Darron’s own family. Now they are the needs of his legal family. Darron earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance at Western Kentucky University and his Juris Doctorate from Drake School of Law. He lives in McLean County and treasures spending time with his wife, Jana, and their four kids, Clay, Caty, Trae, and Jack.

Kurtis M. Sunset

Kurtis is our Associate Attorney, an elder law specialist with a strong background in real estate. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science at the University of Louisville, where he served as Student Body President and a Member of the Board of Trustees from 2011-2012. Kurtis also participated in the prestigious McConnell Scholar Program, a non-partisan political leadership program founded by Kentucky State Senator Mitch McConnell. He earned his Doctor of Law from Emory University School of Law. Kurtis lives in Daviess County, where you might find him writing, reading, helping others achieve their personal goals, or playing with his cat, Kitkat.

Our Guarantee to You

No Hidden Fees

The last thing you need right now is to be blindsided, which is why our services are always one flat fee – no if’s, and’s or but’s. We’ll also provide a list of any potential court costs, paper filing, etc. your unique situation may incur so you can be prepared.

Attorneys that Understand

We get how difficult this time can be – we’ve been there with our parents and grandparents. This phase of life should be about spending quality time together, not stressing over paperwork and finances.

Friendly (hometown) Service

We don’t believe that nice suits make a good attorney, so we don’t wear them (unless we’re going to a wedding). You’ll feel welcomed when you walk into our office – because you are.
